NEW ELECTRONIC LOG BOOK REQUIREMENT FOR RECORDING DRIVER HOURS OF SERVICE

NEW ELECTRONIC LOG BOOK REQUIREMENT FOR RECORDING DRIVER HOURS OF SERVICE

Click here for the updated ELD Compliance Bulletin to use in place of the original version dated 11/14. I made a technical correction to the “Interstate vs Intrastate” section. The ELD rule will very likely still apply to all intrastate drivers who do not qualify for the short haul exemption – but for a different reason than initially stated in the 11/14 compliance bulletin. States are not required to automatically adopt FMCSA hours of service requirements and thus the ELD requirements - but virtually all states do by choice. There may be a few states that adopt the ELD requirement with some variances, such as adopting a different compliance date. But again, most states are following the FMCSA’s lead on ELD.  Mississippi automatically adopted the these requirements without variance.
